Rebuilt the front steps with a compact, custom design to suit a tight entryway. The new pressure-treated structure includes modern horizontal railings and a concealed storage hatch for secure package deliveries on a busy main street.
I built these custom cedar stairs for a client who needed extra wide stairs for her elderly dog and a lower handrail for children.

Her testimonial: ‘Matt was very pleasant to work with from start to finish on my back stair rebuild. As well as being a good carpenter, he is skilled on many important levels including: communication, solving design challenges and is knowledgeable about available products and materials. My new stairs look and feel great and I would highly recommend him.’ -Susan

The job above was complex and challenging. Client had existing steps and shed built under, that needed to be turned and run in a different direction to allow for the expansion of a basement window well. I designed the new steps, shortened the existing shed (with tiny door!), repaired a lot of age related damage, and dug and poured a new concrete window well to code. Added some extras like a hatch to small storage under the new stair landing, and shelves inside the shed. Complex jobs like these keep you on your toes!

New Basement Steps

In the image above, I tore out a closet and rebuilt steps into this clients basement (on a budget).

Client Testimonial:

I can attest to Matt doing great work. He is knowledgeable, timely, efficient and in 15 years of owning my home in this neighbourhood, one of the best craftsmen I have met!
